Can free and open source software be of use in European schools? Yes, says Insight, an observatory within European Schoolnet for new technologies and education. The lack of knowledge of open source development hinders however its deployment in school sector. The Insight paper "Why Europe needs Free and Open Source Software and Content in Schools" is an attempt to shed light on the subject "open source" allowing more structured debate to take place.
