Mathy Vanbuel presented part of ATiT’s work within the Learning from the Extremes Project, funded by the European Commission, at the International Conference Learning from the Extremes on 20th January, 2024 in Athens, Greece. Based on a survey in the framework of the Learning from the Extremes project, ATiT analysed the penetration of up to date networking technologies in 10 European countries, and the actual performance of these technologies as perceived in the school. ATiT concluded that even when a broadband networking technology is effectively available in rural areas, this does not mean that the actual bandwidth is available for the end user. In his presentation Mathy Vanbuel looked at what the possible causes are for this discrepancy, and how this can be solved by bringing high quality broadband to schools and local communities.
